Thailand travel essentials and documents preparation

Filing a TDAC takes about 5 minutes — if you have everything ready. Most errors and delays happen because travelers start the form without having their documents at hand. Gather everything on this checklist before you begin.

The Complete TDAC Checklist

1

Passport (Physical Document)

You need the actual passport in front of you — not a photo or a scan from 3 years ago. You will enter: full name (exactly as it appears on the MRZ line), passport number, nationality, date of birth, date of issue, and expiry date. The passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your travel date.

2

Flight Details

You need: airline name, flight number, and date of arrival in Thailand. If you have connecting flights, use the FINAL flight number that lands in Thailand (not the first leg). For example: if you fly London → Dubai → Bangkok, enter the Dubai → Bangkok flight number.

3

Thai Accommodation Address

The full address of where you are staying in Thailand. This must be a real address — a hotel name, Airbnb address, or a friend/family member's address. You need: property name or street address, district/area, city, and postal code. 'Various locations' or 'traveling around' is not accepted.

4

Purpose of Visit

Select from: Tourism, Business, Transit, Employment, Education, or Other. Most travelers select Tourism. If you are transiting through Thailand without clearing immigration, you do not need a TDAC.

5

Email Address

Your QR code will be delivered to this email. Double-check it — a typo means you will not receive your confirmation. Use an email you can access from your phone at the airport.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

MistakeWhat HappensHow to Avoid
Passport number typoQR code will not scan at immigrationCopy directly from your MRZ line. Watch for O vs 0 (zero)
Name does not match MRZFlag at immigration counterUse EXACTLY the name on the MRZ line, including middle names
Wrong arrival dateTDAC may be rejected or flaggedUse DD/MM/YYYY format. Double-check month vs day

Filing for Families & Groups

If you are traveling with family, each person needs their own TDAC — including children and infants. On the government portal, each person must file separately. Through TDAC.info, one adult can file for up to 6 travelers in a single form.

What Happens After You Submit

  1. You receive a confirmation email within minutes (check spam if it does not appear).
  2. The email contains your TDAC QR code. Save it to your phone AND print a backup copy.
  3. At the immigration counter, show the QR code. The officer scans it, checks your passport, and stamps your entry.
  4. If the QR code fails to scan, the officer will direct you to refile at an airport kiosk. You will not be denied entry.

Pro Tip: File 72 Hours Early

We recommend filing at least 72 hours before your flight. This gives you time to double-check everything, correct any mistakes, and avoid the stress of last-minute filing. You can file up to 12 months in advance.
