Indonesians in Thailand 2026:30 Days, TDAC & Single Names

Visa rules, TDAC arrival card, customs, currency, vaccines and embassy contacts for Indonesian travellers heading to Thailand in 2026.

Visa Status: Visa Exempt (30 Days)

Entry Requirements

If you hold a passport from Indonesia, you must submit a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering the Kingdom of Thailand. The TDAC replaced the paper-based TM6 form and is now required for all international arrivals — regardless of your visa status or purpose of travel.

As an Indonesian citizen, you are eligible for visa exempt (30 days) entry. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. The TDAC collects your personal details, travel information, and accommodation address in Thailand.

⚠️ Common Issue for Indonesian Passport Holders

Single-name passports — this is the most common reason for TDAC rejections from Indonesian travelers. Our system automatically detects and corrects these issues before submission, ensuring your arrival card is accepted without delays at immigration.

How to Apply

  1. 1Have your Indonesia passport ready with at least 6 months validity from your planned entry date.
  2. 2Complete the online form on TDAC.info with your personal details, travel itinerary, and accommodation address in Thailand.
  3. 3Our team reviews your submission for errors and you receive your approved QR code via email before your departure.
  4. 4Present your QR code at Thai immigration upon arrival — no paper forms needed, skip the queues.

Visa Status

Indonesian citizens: Visa Exempt (30 Days). No visa application required for tourist stays within the allowed period.

Visa Duration for Indonesian Citizens

Indonesian passport holders can stay in Thailand for 30 days from 15 Sep 2026 under the current visa exemption. Extensions are available at local Immigration offices.

Flights to Thailand from Indonesia

  • Jakarta (CGK) → Bangkok (direct)
  • Bali (DPS) → Bangkok

Common TDAC Mistakes by Indonesian Travelers

  • Single-name passport holders: enter same name in both first and last name fields
  • Indonesian passport numbers: 1 letter + 7 digits
  • KTP number is NOT needed on TDAC
Announced 17 August 2026 - phased rollout, not yet live

Auto Gates at Suvarnabhumi: Indonesia Is Not on the Announced List

On 17 August 2026 Thailand approved in principle the addition of 31 more passports to the automated arrival gates at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, joining Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. Indonesia is not among them, so arrival is at a manned immigration counter as before. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card remains mandatory either way and has to be filed before you travel.

The 90-Second Version

Indonesians fly Jakarta–Bangkok non-stop in about three and a half hours on Thai Airways, Garuda, Lion and AirAsia, with Bali–Bangkok also served; shopping, food and medical trips to Bangkok dominate. Visa-free days for Indonesian passports: 30 days, tourism and short business visits. Flight time: about 4 hours non-stop from Indonesia. Where you land: Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Bangkok.

What Immigration Checks on Indonesian Passports

  • Return ticket and hotel. Both are asked of Indonesian arrivals fairly consistently; keep them on your phone.
  • Funds. 10,000 THB per person (20,000 per family) may be requested.
  • Passport validity. Six months from entry; Indonesian passports are five- or ten-year documents.

Your Name on the TDAC

Many Indonesian passports carry a single name or no family name; the MRZ then places the whole name in one segment, sometimes repeating it. Copy whatever split the MRZ shows onto the TDAC — if the surname segment holds the full name, enter it there and follow the form's guidance for the given-names field; do not invent a surname. The passport number is one letter followed by seven digits.

Staying Longer Than 30 days

One 30-day extension is available at any Immigration office for 1,900 THB; the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta issues Tourist Visas for longer stays.

Practical Notes for Indonesian Travellers

  • Payments. Indonesian Visa and Mastercard cards work in Thailand; QRIS cross-border payment with Thai QR is live at many Bangkok merchants via participating banks. Every Thai ATM charges a flat 220 THB per withdrawal.
  • Halal and prayer. Prayer rooms at Suvarnabhumi; halal dining around Sukhumvit Soi 3–5 and Pratunam in Bangkok.
  • Time zone. Thailand is on Jakarta time; one hour behind Bali.
  • Help in Thailand. The Indonesian Embassy is on Phetchaburi Road in Bangkok.
