Entry Requirements
If you hold a passport from Russia, you must submit a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering the Kingdom of Thailand. The TDAC replaced the paper-based TM6 form and is now required for all international arrivals — regardless of your visa status or purpose of travel.
As a Russian citizen, you are eligible for visa exempt (30 days) entry. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. The TDAC collects your personal details, travel information, and accommodation address in Thailand.

- Cyrillic to Latin transliteration must match passport MRZ exactly
- Russian passport has both Cyrillic and Latin names — use Latin version

Auto Gates at Suvarnabhumi: Russia Is Not on the Announced List
On 17 August 2026 Thailand approved in principle the addition of 31 more passports to the automated arrival gates at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, joining Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. Russia is not among them, so arrival is at a manned immigration counter as before. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card remains mandatory either way and has to be filed before you travel.

What Immigration Checks on Russian Passports
- The 90-in-180 count. Immigration counts cumulative visa-exempt days. Long-stayers who leave and return can hit the cap mid-season; count your days before booking.
- Second-line interview. Russian passport holders are sent to a secondary check more often than other nationalities, especially on one-way tickets or with little accommodation booked. Have the return or onward ticket, the hotel booking and proof of funds ready on your phone — it shortens the interview to minutes.
- Funds. 20,000 THB per person is the figure most often cited to Russian arrivals; cash or a card balance is accepted. Russian-issued Visa and Mastercard do not work abroad, so this means cash, a Mir card where accepted, or a foreign-issued card.
- Passport validity. Six months from entry. Many Russians travel on the five-year internal-style passport; check the expiry.

Practical Notes for Russian Travellers
- Money. Russian-issued Visa and Mastercard have not worked abroad since 2022. Bring cash (rubles exchange poorly; US dollars or euros exchange well at SuperRich and similar booths), a Mir card for the ATMs and merchants that accept it, or a card issued in Kazakhstan, Georgia or the UAE. Every Thai ATM charges a flat 220 THB per withdrawal.
- Season. The Russian peak (November–March) is Thailand's dry season on the Andaman coast; Phuket charters land at HKT and skip Bangkok immigration entirely — the TDAC is still required.
- Time zone. Thailand is four hours ahead of Moscow.
- Help in Thailand. The Russian Embassy is on Sathorn Road in Bangkok with a consulate-general in Phuket.
