Ukrainians in Thailand 2026:30 Days, Screening & TDAC Spelling

Visa rules, TDAC arrival card, customs, currency, vaccines and embassy contacts for Ukrainian travellers heading to Thailand in 2026.

Visa Status: Visa Exempt (30 Days)

Entry Requirements

If you hold a passport from Ukraine, you must submit a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering the Kingdom of Thailand. The TDAC replaced the paper-based TM6 form and is now required for all international arrivals — regardless of your visa status or purpose of travel.

As an Ukrainian citizen, you are eligible for visa exempt (30 days) entry. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. The TDAC collects your personal details, travel information, and accommodation address in Thailand.

⚠️ Common Issue for Ukrainian Passport Holders

Ukrainian name transliteration — this is the most common reason for TDAC rejections from Ukrainian travelers. Our system automatically detects and corrects these issues before submission, ensuring your arrival card is accepted without delays at immigration.

How to Apply

  1. 1Have your Ukraine passport ready with at least 6 months validity from your planned entry date.
  2. 2Complete the online form on TDAC.info with your personal details, travel itinerary, and accommodation address in Thailand.
  3. 3Our team reviews your submission for errors and you receive your approved QR code via email before your departure.
  4. 4Present your QR code at Thai immigration upon arrival — no paper forms needed, skip the queues.

Visa Status

Ukrainian citizens: Visa Exempt (30 Days). No visa application required for tourist stays within the allowed period.

Visa Duration for Ukrainian Citizens

Ukrainian passport holders can stay in Thailand for 30 days from 15 Sep 2026 under the current visa exemption. Extensions are available at local Immigration offices.

Common TDAC Mistakes by Ukrainian Travelers

  • Ukrainian ordinary passport holders get 30 days visa-free from 15 September 2026 (60 days for arrivals up to 14 September 2026); enhanced screening applies at Thai immigration
  • Ukrainian name transliteration must match passport Latin text
  • Biometric passport required
Announced 17 August 2026 - phased rollout, not yet live

Auto Gates at Suvarnabhumi: Ukraine Is Not on the Announced List

On 17 August 2026 Thailand approved in principle the addition of 31 more passports to the automated arrival gates at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, joining Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. Ukraine is not among them, so arrival is at a manned immigration counter as before. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card remains mandatory either way and has to be filed before you travel.

The 90-Second Version

Ukrainians reach Thailand via Warsaw, Istanbul or the Gulf in 14–16 hours, many for long winter stays in Phuket and Pattaya. Ukrainian passport holders use the visa exemption but are screened more closely than most nationalities at the desk. Visa-free days for Ukrainian passports: 30 days, tourism and short business visits. Where you land: Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Bangkok.

What Immigration Checks on Ukrainian Passports

  • Second-line interview. Ukrainian passport holders are sent to a secondary check more often than most, particularly on one-way tickets; have the return or onward ticket, hotel booking and proof of funds ready on your phone.
  • Funds. 20,000 THB per person is the figure most often cited; cash or a card balance is accepted.
  • Passport validity. Six months from entry.

Your Name on the TDAC

The MRZ uses the official Ukrainian romanisation (2010 rules): Ю is IU, Я is IA, Щ is SHCH, Г is H and Є is IE — so Юрій is IURII and Ганна is HANNA. Copy the MRZ exactly onto the TDAC, not the spelling on a bank card or an older document. The patronymic is not in the MRZ and should not be entered. The passport number is two letters followed by six digits.

Staying Longer Than 30 days

One 30-day extension is available at any Immigration office for 1,900 THB; for a whole winter, a Tourist Visa or long-stay visa from the Royal Thai Embassy in Kyiv (or, while it operates with limited services, the Thai missions in Warsaw or Istanbul) is the cleaner route.

Practical Notes for Ukrainian Travellers

  • Cards. Ukrainian Visa and Mastercard cards work normally abroad; every Thai ATM charges a flat 220 THB per withdrawal.
  • Time zone. Thailand is five hours ahead of Ukraine in winter, four in summer.
  • Help in Thailand. The Ukrainian Embassy is in Bangkok.

At the Airport

Russian and Ukrainian passport holders are sent to a second-line interview more often than other nationalities, particularly on one-way tickets or with little accommodation booked. Keep proof of funds and onward travel within reach.
