The arrival auto gates at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) are now in use by travellers from 33 nationalities, five weeks after the Immigration Bureau approved the expansion in principle on 17 August 2026. Airport signage and traveller reports from around 20 September confirm the lanes are open; the government had said on 26 August that the service would start within a month.
Four conditions apply. You must hold one of the 33 eligible passports (Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway and most EU member states); you must be entering under the 30-day visa exemption, so visa holders still use the counters; you must have visited Thailand before, because first-time arrivals give their biometrics at a staffed counter; and you must have filed your Thailand Digital Arrival Card before landing. The United States, China, India and Taiwan are not on the list.
The rollout is phased, so an eligible passport does not guarantee an open gate on every flight. The gate reads the passport chip and matches it against the arrival record, so the details on the TDAC must match the passport exactly.
